about this project

Cake is an end-of-life planning platform built for a Millennial audience.

Objectives:

  1. Create a resource library of over 5,000 well-researched articles to boost traffic to more than 40 million annual users.
  2. Leverage traffic into a successful affiliate marketing strategy and eventually a membership program and B2B contracts.
  3. Build out cornerstone tools and pages with user-focused, agile development strategy.

CONTENT CREATION

I crafted 250+ key pieces of high-ranking content, involving in-depth subject research.

Key content goals:

  1. Make end-of-life planning more approachable for a younger adult audience.
  2. Convey complicated topics in a way that makes sense to a broad audience.
  3. Create informative articles with unique information to encourage backlinking and shares.

Process:

  1. Create a content brief in collaboration with the Director of Content using Ahrefs or SEMrush for topic insights.
  2. Thoroughly research the topic through primary sources until I can easily explain it to anyone.
  3. Write the content using SEO best practices while maintaining a reader-centered approach.
  4. Edit the article for readability and accuracy.
  5. Publish the article in Cake's bespoke CMS system and add visuals.

CONTENT LEADERSHIP

I crafted training documents, style guides, and project management systems, and performed team member trainings in the content creation process.

Writing Samples

I wore many hats at Cake, but one of of those was content writing. I was able to personally pen more than 250 articles, all helping our users navigate the complex topic of end-of-life planning.

Here are some of the articles I'm proud of! You can also see
